Jocelyn Megee, of Fairfield, died at the scene of the crash on Route 16 at 3170 Waynesboro Pike at 7:08 p.m., as explained by PSP Gettysburg Cameron Norris. She lives 2.8 miles down the road, according to public records.

She was driving a 2014 Jeep Cherokee west when the heavy rain caused her to lose control of the vehicle — striking an embankment, flipping onto the driver's side, and sliding into the other lane of traffic that heading east — which is when the Jeep was struck head-on by a 2020 Volvo tractor-trailer, Trooper Norris explained.

The 44-year-old trucker from Hagerstown, MD, was not injured in the crash. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelt. The vehicles were taken to a lot for "further inspection," as stated in the PSP release.

PSP closed Waynesboro Pike in both directions near the Adams/Franklin County line due to the fatal crash, PennDOT officials told Daily Voice. The roadway reopened just after 11 p.m.

A coroner from the Adams County Coroner's Office responded to the scene, according to PSP. Jocelyn's next of kin have been notified.

Jocelyn was a horse girl who loved to care for and ride them, according to her social media. She enjoyed caring for many types of animals, this included raising pigs during the pandemic. More recently, she attended dog grooming school, according to her final Facebook post.

Her community has already been sharing about its loss on social media.

She is survived by her parents, younger brothers, her extended family, and of course her beloved animals, according to a GoFundMe from 2019 when she suffered a horseback riding accident.

Fundraisers have been launched by her friends to help her family through this difficult time. Details are in the Facebook posts below.

Her family is invited to contact Daily Voice with funeral details, a statement, and/or photos by emailing jpikora@dailyvoice.com.
